Post Doctoral Associate (A) (R100077399)

The Post Doctoral Associate performs scientific research and studies under the supervision of managing staff. Moreover, the Post Doctoral Associate promotes institutional recognition through literal contributions to the scientific community.

The Miami Project to Cure Paralysis is a center for neuroscience regarding neurotrauma and neurological disease. Dr. Widerstrom-Noga’s research program focuses on human chronic pain associated with these conditions. The postdoctoral associate will conduct verbal and psychophysical pain assessments, non-invasive brain stimulation, visual illusions, manage and analyze data, present, and publish results.   • Conducts research on specific areas of study as assigned.
  • Prepares research reports and technical papers for publishing.
  • Investigates the feasibility of applying a wide variety of scientific principles and theories.
  • Maintains substantial knowledge of state-of-the-art principles and theories.
  • Develops advanced analytical models and systems and provides solutions and analyses to support strategic and tactical decisions.
  • Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

 

POSTDOCTORAL ASSOCIATES

Our Postdoctoral Programs offer the opportunity for candidates to perform research in a scientifically diverse setting and contribute to the overall research efforts taking place in our facility. Individuals are considered on the basis of education, certifications, and/or relevant work experience. Candidates must also demonstrate willingness in furthering the continuing scientific and technological success of The Miami Project.

THE HENRY G. STEINBRENNER SCHOLARS PROGRAM

The mission of The Henry G. Steinbrenner Scholars Program is to train the next generation of neuroscientists focused on developing new treatments and cures for some of the world’s most complex neurological diseases including traumatic brain and spinal cord injuries.

The Henry G. Steinbrenner Scholars Program is a prestigious and professional internship where the students are actively involved in the research and are working directly with the Principal Investigator.  Since its inception, The Miami Project has trained more than 500 post-doctoral fellows, graduate students, and visiting scholars.  These positions provide an opportunity for exceptional students to work in state-of-the-art research laboratories.  Utilizing their knowledge and laboratory skills, students take on specific functions and projects as part of a multidisciplinary team.  By developing undergraduate and graduate students into the fields of science, research, medicine, and engineering, The Miami Project is increasing the number of scientists and laboratories around the world working to obtain the knowledge to initiate new discoveries and clinical trials.  Learn More >

 

STUDENT FELLOWSHIPS and OPPORTUNITIES

Both graduate and undergraduate students have the opportunity to volunteer or accept part-time paid positions in many of our laboratories. Paid positions for summer students are made available each year through the support of various funding agencies.  Students have opportunities in both the Undergraduate and Graduate levels with the University of Miami.

The Miami Project’s affiliation with the University of Miami Graduate Neuroscience Program makes it a prime location for the mentoring of eager students.

Graduate students in the UM Neuroscience program are trained in cellular, molecular, and integrative neuroscience and have the option of choosing mentors from among Miami Project faculty. Learn more >
